The proliferation
of information-based systems on the factory floor was no
surprise to the programmers at Kruse Controls, Inc. A
separate division, Datability (see
www.datability.biz),
was created to focus on data collection and information
technology services. Our programmers and designers are
comfortable working in the Information Technology arena and are
adept at bridging the gap between the information layer and the
factory floor.
The backbone of
the information layer is the network system. Distributed control
architectures and information technology solutions on the plant
floor have placed a premium on network design skills. We at
Kruse Controls, Inc. have been designing and maintaining
networked systems for years. The increased acceptance of
Ethernet on the factory floor allows our engineers to provide
efficient network solutions that marry the plant floor to the
information layer.
Being versed in
all levels of an automation system, from factory floor to
information layer, is the value that Kruse Controls, Inc.
brings to you.

Project Examples
Control System for
aluminum web anodizing line with
database server interface

SUMMARY:
The anodizing line uses a programmable logic controller (PLC) and a human
machine interface workstation (HMI) for process control. A Microsoft SQL Server
database was used for production setup and process information storage.

Control System for three aluminum web coating lines with
common database server

SUMMARY:
The anodizing line uses a programmable logic controller (PLC) and a human
machine interface workstation (HMI) for process control. A Microsoft SQL Server
database was used for production setup and process information storage.

Downtime Collection
and Reporting System for Juice Line

SUMMARY:
Developed HMI and Visual Basic front end to create real-time
networked display of Juice Line status as well as automatically
collect actual downtime reasons with time stamp.

Custom
alarm
analysis System for human machine interface (HMI) software package

SUMMARY:
Developed a Microsoft VisualBasic application to allow a user to query process
alarm information inserted into a Microsoft SQL Server database from an off the
shelf HMI software package and generate historical analysis reports.

Automation of
production ticket generation and
Tracking for a vending machine
manufacturer with an Interface to their ERP System

SUMMARY:
Developed a Microsoft Visual Basic application to automatically generate
barcoded production tickets from daily production schedules. Developed a Visual
Basic application to update the ERP records by receiving scanned barcode
information upon completion of the vending machine manufacture and quality test.

Development of an OPC
I/O Server for Communication of a
human machine interface (HMI) to a
programmable logic controller (PLC)

SUMMARY:
Used Microsoft Visual C++ to develop an OPC I/O server for communication between
an HMI and a PLC.
