APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

 Middle, High School & College Application Requirements

APPLICANT:

  • Must be a resident of District of Columbia, Maryland or Virginia.
    Must be a 2001 student in good standing at a public or private school
    Must have a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.5 or better. 
    Must regularly attend church and participate in church related activities   and/or be an active
    member of a community based organization that advocates service to others, i.e. volunteer at local hospital, food bank, and senior hospice program.

 

Elementary School Application Requirements

APPLICANT:

  • Must be resident of District of Columbia, Maryland or Virginia.
  • Must be attending an accredited or licensed public or private school of higher learning.
  • Must regularly attend church and participate in church related or community based activities, i.e.
    Sunday School, choir, volunteer.
  • Must submit a hand written story about their family; children under the age of 8 years can submit a drawing of their family.

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURES:

  • Print or type the requested information.
  • On a separate page write a two-page essay. (See application form for details, appearance, spelling and grammar will be considered in the evaluation of application).
  • Submit a copy of your most recent report card.
  • Submit a letter from your school or church outlining your attendance record, academic performance, group participation and your citizenship or behavior.
  • Submit two letters of recommendation from two different sources. (Please have the persons writing recommendations specify their relationship or capacity in which they know or have observed the applicant i.e., Teacher, Pastor, Principal, Community Leader, Mentor, etc.)
  • Submit completed application, along with all requested information (reproduced copies accepted) to:

APPLICATION DEADLINE:

  • All material must be postmarked by August 21, 2001.
  • You may be contacted for a personal interview.

 NOTICE TO APPLICANT

  • Applicants that are members of the Miracle Temple Youth Coalition, Inc., will receive priority consideration.
  • APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED WITHOUT AN OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT WILL BE DEEMED INCOMPLETE AND WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
  • Academic Achievement awards for Elementary & Middle School attendees will receive a US Saving Bond for $300.00.  High School Graduates and College attendees will receive a Cash Honorarium of $400.00.  Those students who qualify for the Pastor’s Award will receive an additional Cash Honorarium of $250.00.  These students will have exemplary academic performance as well as outstanding achievement in civic, social and volunteer service in their church, school, or community.
